All Aboard For Jolly Running's Most Unique Event!! We Have Collaborated with The Amazing Staff At South Devon Railways To Be Able To Bring You This Special Event. The Race Is A Long 10K (6.8 Trail Miles) In South Devon where you will RACE A STEAM TRAIN in an out and back trail route through the beautiful Dartington Hall Estate. You will also have the unique opportunity to ride the train to the start line where you will then disembark and prepare to race it!!! Your family and supporters can ride the train on it's journey whilst you are racing it.

Our Start Line is at South Devon Railways Totnes Heritage Riverside Station where spectators with a ticket will board the Jolly Running Express Race Train in the hope of catching a glimpse of their runner’s trying to beat the train as the train makes its journey to Staverton and Back.

Please do not go to the Totnes mainline station as this is the wrong station.

You and the Jolly Running Express then wait for the whistle to blow, which starts the race. The Beat the Train is a 6.8 mile route along riverside paths and woodland trails from Totnes to Staverton and back to Totnes.

The train and the runners race to Staverton Station where the train has a short stop before returning to Totnes, this is your opportunity to steam on ahead and make it back to Totnes before the train.

It is an out and back course turning around at the waterstation at Staverton Station.
