About

Jolly Running

Jolly Running organise trail running events around the stunning Devon countryside and coast, the events are races for all running abilities in beautiful locations. Some of the races are quite quirky and unique where I’ve added my “Jolly Touch” to them, you could find yourself riding a steam train to the start line before you race it or sliding down a 30 metre waterslide mid race!

One constant emphasis that I keep in mind when planning any event is for it to be fun and enjoyable. I am a runner myself when not injured and aim to make the events inclusive for all ages and abilities and where every runner is important. My races range from a children’s 1 mile fun run to marathon and ultra distances.

Encouragement is for the events to be sociable, “jolly” gatherings where our love of running, events and enjoyment is the common bond.

My creativity embraces colourful, sparkly, shiny and quirky things, this is depicted in the Jolly Running logo and the medals I design. My design flair does cause a few headaches with manufacturers when I push the boundaries of their capabilities with my medal ideas.

The environment is extremely important to Jolly Running and in order for us to continue to be privileged to run in such beautiful surroundings I try to be as environmentally friendly as I possibly can and source products from local businesses. Some of our suppliers are Teign Valley Glass, Red Rock Brewery, Georgie Porgie’s Puddings, Hallett’s Bakery, Daisy Cakes and Langage Farm to name a few. I also strive to use environmentally friendly products such as Vegware containers replacing plastic and the events are cupless too!

Tracey Jolly

Tracey founded Jolly Running in 2018. She is an EA LIRF run group leader and is also qualified as a guide runner having completed the Sight Loss Awareness and Guide Running Course.

“I work for the NHS Emergency Service as my full-time job and Jolly Running’s events are created in my spare time and leave.

Jolly Running is just me… no big company with a team of lots of people to plan, design, route plan and do the administration….it’s just one person…little ole’ me that does everything with the invaluable help of my family and a handful of my very dear friends on Race Day!! It wouldn’t be possible to bring any race to you without this help. This way the events stay very personal and family orientated and I strive to create that atmosphere throughout my events.

I was inspired to start my own running events business after
discovering my love for trail running and competing in events which made me want to bring something different and fun to the Devon running scene. I love the running community and I’m passionate about my events being inclusive with the emphasis on mental wellbeing, positivity and enjoyment. As well as organising my own events I have previously organised races for a local running club and also enjoy helping out at many local events from marshalling, registration, sweeper, to giving out medals and serving tea and cake.

I love great race medals and I set my imagination and creativity free when designing Jolly Running medals. The medals spin, slide, have furry beards, snow globes, are glittery and some glow in the dark. I love creating a medal that’s different, fun and possibly unique, this does push some medal companies to the limit of their production capabilities when I’ve designed something they have not produced before.”
