Cream tea caper 2023

Still awaiting confirmation on a date for this year.

Double Locks Pub - Riverside Valley Park, EX2 6LT Exeter

In order to reduce our plastic landfill waste this is a cupless event.

We will have reusable running cups available to purchase if you forget yours or do not have one.

The Cream Tea Caper is an 8 hour timed, laps event based in the stunning gardens of the Double Locks pub set in the gorgeous Riverside Valley Park in Exeter.

The event is laps of 3.3 miles and you can do as many laps as you like in 8 hours.

Please don’t let the 8 hours put you off… you don’t have to run for 8 hours if you don’t want to.

It’s all explained below.

About Jolly Running "Capers"

Please don’t be put off by the 8 hour element… This is a very, friendly, social and relaxed event where you don’t have to run for the full 8 hours. The beauty of it is you only have to do one 3.3 mile lap to claim your Cream Tea and medal.

The route is a flat off road course on picturesque canal paths and riverside pathways along the beautiful Exeter Canal, each lap is 3.3 miles, you can run as many laps as you like in 8 hours. You can take as many breaks between laps as you need but the clock is still running.

Relaxing in the Double Locks garden really is lovely. There is a play park there for your children and Phil and his team at the Double Locks are extremely welcoming and offer delicious food and drinks.

Once finished running you are presented with your Cream Tea Caper Medal and individual Cream Tea in a box. ( the cream tea consists of a scone, mini jar of strawberry jam, mini pot of clotted cream, napkin and wooden knife )

The environment is very important to me and the ‘cream tea in a box’ waste is all completely compostable or recyclable. Please recycle it. Jolly Running will provide a recycle bin at Race HQ.

Our Race HQ is situated in the beautiful grounds of the Double Locks pub which is right on the canal banks, each lap you can visit our ‘Jollification station’ where you can refuel yourself with water, squash, sweets, cakes, savoury treats and much more. We also provide vegan options. The aid station is Covid safe.
